There is always a lot of talk about Thanksgiving and Christmas recipes for the big day, but what about all of the leftovers for the day after that come with it? Once the madness of the holiday settles and we open our fridges the next day, leftovers shouldn’t leave us bored, but, alas, they always do.
Chef Ashley Neave of Forthright has a recipe for leftover turkey that not only will add some pep to your leftover spread, it might even rival your original Thanksgiving Day feast. This delicious sandwich is also super easy to whip up, so wave your crazy family goodbye and snuggle up on the couch with this soon-to-be favorite.
Bacon Jam recipe:
1 lb smoked bacon cut in to small pieces 3 oz finelychopped white onions 1/2 cup apple cidervinegar
3 Tbsp brown sugar Salt and pepper, to taste Cookthe bacon and onion until the bacon is nearlycrispy.
Add the Apple Cidervinegar and reduce by half.
Then, add the brown sugar and boil for three minutes.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
2 pieces of nine grain bread from your local bakery 4 ounces leftover Thanksgiving turkey 1 ounce bacon jam Fresh vine tomato, sliced Fresh lettuce (anylettuce you like) 1 ounce whole grain mustard Toast the bread on both sides.
Spread bacon jam on one side and whole grain mustard on the other.
Laythe sliced turkeyleftovers and tomatoes on top and season tomatoes with salt and pepper.
