Experience an Unforgettable Night with Austin’s Most Celebrated Chefs Benefitting the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation

AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center, along with the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation, is proud to announce the return of the fifth annual Pay It Forward with Daniel Curtis benefit on Thursday, August 6 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the AT&T Conference Center. In its fifth year, the benefit’s goal continues to be raising awareness and money for those with spinal cord injuries. Pay It Forward is returning this summer for what is sure to be an incredible night featuring a vibrant lineup of more than a dozen of Austin’s most celebrated chefs, an open bar with cocktails from Treaty Oak Distilling and The Patron Spirits Company, and a live performance by an original nine-piece Latin Grooves Funk Blues Orchestra, Hector Ward & The Big Time.

In May 2011, Daniel Curtis was injured in a diving accident, which resulted in a severe spinal cord injury. His family, friends and co-workers teamed up with Lone Star Paralysis Foundation to stage a fundraiser, raising more than $65,000 to help with the ever-growing medical bills Daniel and his family faced on top of the mental and physical anguish he experienced. Following four successful years, Daniel and the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation are continuing their mission of raising awareness about the spinal cord injury community and helping those in need of medical assistance. This year, Daniel and the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation have set a goal to raise $65,000 with more than 500 guests in attendance.

“It’s been a little over four years now since that day in May when my life changed forever,” says Curtis. “I broke my neck, damaging my spinal cord and have been living as a quadriplegic ever since. Thanks to the Lone Star Paralysis Foundation and the help of so many, I was able to find a community that lifted me out of those darkest hours. It’s been a difficult journey filled with the hardest work and effort I’ve ever had to put forth, but it’s also been a beautiful experience in so many ways. The goal of this event is to raise funds and awareness so that we can continue to help folks like myself climb out of that darkness and get back to what is so beautiful in life.”
