Signature items and new favorites join the new lineup alongside plentiful drink specials featuring wine deals, specialty cocktail pitcher and an emphasis on local Texas beer & spirits

February 25, 2014 (Austin, TX) – The groundhog my have not seen his shadow, but the team at TRACE is beaconing spring and the arrival of warmer weather with the debut of its new Happy Hour.  The revamped happy hour now features a wide variety of small plates that showcase the restaurant’s signature items and styles, in addition to drink specials and fun-for-sharing cocktail pitchers.

Taking place Monday through Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, the new Happy Hour menu will appease cocktail enthusiasts as well as casual drinkers. Available for $25 during happy hour, TRACE’s Patio Pitcher of Adult Lemonade, a refreshing spiked lemonade infused with changing seasonal flavors, yields 4-6 drinks and is perfect for sharing. Beyond that, all bottles of wine are 25% off, select wines are $6 by the glass and Texas spirits are $5 with $4 Texas beers.  Austinites and visitors alike can take advantage of the expansive outdoor TRACE patio with a cocktail in hand, and even enjoy live music on Thursdays from 6:00 to 9:00pm.

For those coming in for food, Chef de Cuisine Lawrence Kocurek presents an array of his signature TRACE dishes in a shareable and casual setting, perfect for the happy hour crowd while still maintaining a focus on utilizing local, seasonal ingredients. With options for every palate, try items seen on the dinner menu like Coconut Curry MusselsHamachi Crudo with compressed cucumber, meyer lemon, white soy and serrano or the Crispy Crab Cake with gribiche, fennel and pickled onions, all for $7 each. Great for sharing, the Charcuterie & Fromage serves 2 and features Kocurek’s well-known house made charcuterie, pickles, mustards and baguette, as well as a selection of fromage sourced through local cheese monger, Antonelli’s.

Venture beyond the bites with the Happy Hour Burger with a side of crispy Hand Cut Fries or the Mini Goat Merguez Sandwichmade with local Windy Hill goat, Moroccan spices and harrisa aioli. For a taste of something not currently on the menu, the Pork Belly Slider and Smoked Brisket Taco have a true Austin flavor sure to satisfy a modest appetite. 

The launch also marks the arrival of new Pastry Chef Angel Begaye and her creative additions to the menu including Butterscotch Bourbon Pudding with Buffalo Trace bourbon, bacon brittle & caramel pound cake croutons as well as what is sure to become a staple, the Fried Candy Bar which features a house-made candy bar filled with rice crisps, salted caramel & dark chocolate with warm dipping sauces.

Pastry Chef Angel Begaye joined the TRACE team from fellow Starwood property The Phoenician in Scottsdale, AZ where she was with the Luxury Collection Resort for over seven years. She brings a renewed excitement about fine pastry, adding her own creative touch while maintaining focus on well balanced flavors.
