East Austin cantina La Holly has announced a new pop-up at Key Bar Austin, on W. 6th St. for the next six months.  Taco Flats and La Holly owner Simon Madera brings a selection of frozen cocktails to the West 6th Street hotspot to accommodate the hot summer months, as well as their usual offerings of tequila, mezcal, sotol, raicilla and bacanora. The Taco Flats food truck will also be parked at Key Bar offering their Mexico City-inspired cuisine. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Madera and his team are looking to more safely expand their reach and focus on patio space and pop-up events as a new venture in an effort to make customers more comfortable and at ease.
La Holly was founded in 2018 by the team that resurrected Taco Flats, led by Simon Madera. La Holly was inspired by the beautiful, quaint Mexican-American neighborhood where long time tejano bar, Kellee’s Place, operated since 1991. The bar program consists of agave-based cocktails such as tequila, mezcal, sotol, raicilla and bacanora, as well as a small local tap selection, cans and bottles. Key members of the Taco Flats team, Michael Vasko and Patrick O’donnell, help run the bar and serve as Owner Operating Partners. For more information on La Holly, please see: www.cantinaholly.com.
