Pub Features 100 Draft Beers, Including 60 Austin Craft Brews

Growler USA, the American microbrew pub known for staying True to the Brew™, is tapping the Austin market. Premiering Saturday, Feb. 27 with a Grand Opening Party from 3 to 5 p.m., the new Austin location of Growler USA is located at 609 W. 29th St., near the University of Texas campus. Growler USA features a 100-tap wall of handcrafted beverages, including a rotating selection of Austin, Hill Country and Texas microbrew beers, regional brews, kombucha, wine, hard cider and a diverse and locally inspired food menu.

A Growler USA Austin grand opening party wouldn’t be a party without giveaways of the pub’s favorite choice of craft-brew receptacle: the growler! Every guest attending the grand opening party will receive a free 64-ounce plastic growler (while supplies last), the ultimate oversized bottle perfect for filling (and refilling, time and again) with any Austin-area craft brew. Of course, glass and insulated growlers and growler koozies, or Groozies, as they’re called, will also be available for purchase. Growler USA growlers and other growlers can be taken home filled with guests’ favorite brews, and brought back to Growler USA for another brew refill. Revered local radio DJ Deb of The Morning X With Jason and Deb on 101X FM, a well-known beer aficionado, will also join the party and will give away South by Southwest wristbands to lucky party guests.

Dedicated to pouring only 100 percent American-made beverages, the Growler USA Austin pub, opened by Austin entrepreneur MJ Hurt, will feature beer from area breweries such asSolid Rock, (512) Brewing Company, Live Oak Brewing Company, Independence Brewing Company, Thirsty Planet Brewing Company, Austin Beerworks, Blue Owl Brewing and Hops & Grain Brewing. In addition to microbrew beer, Growler USA Austin will serve hard cider, draft wine, hand-crafted root beer, cold-pressed coffee and kombucha tea. And Growler USA’s beer flights give customers a great opportunity to sample the many styles of local and regional craft beers.

Hurt chose her home city of Austin to unveil Growler USA because of the city’s beer-loving makeup, its dedication to handcrafted beverages and the city’s dozens of nearby craft breweries, which will be highlighted at the pub. Hurt and all of her Brew Specialists at the Austin pub are Cicerone® Certified Beer Servers, a lauded distinction that enables Hurt and her staff to provide the best and most knowledgeable beer experience for their customers.

“The craft-beer industry has grown rapidly in Texas, and we’re looking forward to sharing the variety of quality regional and nationally recognized beers right here in Austin,” Hurt says. “Growler USA is dedicated to American craft beer. From deciding exactly which taps we install, to beer coolers, proper storage and serving, we understand the flavors, styles and service required so that beer tastes the way the brewmasters intend.”

As a part of its commitment to provide a better craft-beverage drinking experience, the Growler USA food menu, which was designed to complement each handcrafted beverage, includes a variety of salads, sandwiches, oven-roasted chicken wings and wraps. The Austin pub also embraces the unique local culture with Austin-centric food items, including Capital Cowboy Chili, the SoLa Mediterranean Platter, the Town Lake Root Beer Float, mouthwatering Barton Springs Brisket Sliders, New Braunfels-inspired beer brat sliders, the Zilker Brisket Salad and, of course, an all-time Austin favorite: blackened mahi fish tacos.

The Growler USA Austin pub is a marvel of modern technology, yet also features a comfortable, friendly atmosphere where guests can sit a spell and sample a variety of local brews at the one-of-a-kind bar handcrafted from reclaimed barn wood. Designed to keep beer lovers entirely up to date on all of Growler USA Austin’s offerings, the taps at the Austin pub are equipped to provide customers with instant notifications on the pub’s in-house digital menu boards and on social media about newly tapped brews and their characteristics. The pub also offers cellphone charging stations and an HDMI/computer hookup for private meetings and presentations.
