Gramercy Park Hotel in NYC is standing out with upgraded in-room dining options by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group.

The new menu debuted in October and is the creation of Jean-Paul Bourgeois—the Chef de Cuisine of Union Square Hospitality Group’s Gramercy Terrace.

The menu features nods to the chef’s Louisiana background and functions more like a restaurant menu than a traditional room service menu, with seasonal soup and beer options, fresh-pressed juices and a wide variety of small plates, salads, sandwiches, main courses, sides and desserts, in addition to an extensive breakfast menu.

Highlights include JP’s Po-Boy (cornmeal battered shrimp, tabasco mayo, pickle, lettuce and tomato) and the Bourgie Burger (8 oz. La Frieda ground burger with all the trimmings served with Cajun Spiced fries).

CHEF JEAN-PAUL BOURGEOIS

A native of Thibodaux, a small Bayou community in Louisiana, Jean-Paul Bourgeois grew up surrounded by Cajun cuisine. These early experiences of flavorful food and the way it brought family and friends together left their imprint on Jean-Paul, who enrolled at a local Culinary Institute after graduating from high school. While obtaining his Bachelors of Science in Culinary Arts, Jean-Paul was selected as one of four lucky students to participate in an exchange program with the Paul Bocuse Institute in Lyon, France- a life changing experience that solidified his passion for cooking. Upon graduation, Jean-Paul moved to the Napa Valley where he accepted a position at étoile restaurant at the Domaine Chandon winery. He was then named the opening sous chef at EPIC Roasthouse, chef Jan Birnbaum’s San Francisco steakhouse. In 2009, he moved to New York City, where he was hired at Maialino, Chef Nick Anderer’s Roman inspired trattoria.  In early 2013, Jean-Paul was named the Chef de Cuisine of Gramercy Terrace, the beautiful restaurant and event space on the rooftop of the Gramercy Park Hotel.
