Freedmen’s bar and Smokehouse, is now serving up some special barrel-aged cocktails perfect for pairing with the smokehouse’s scrumptious smoked meats, or simply for sipping and savoring.

Freedmen’s, known for their extensive selection of more than 160 whiskeys as much as for its brisket, is enticing discriminating cocktail lovers with its array of classic barrel-aged cocktails ($12 each), all handcrafted from scratch and made to order. Freedmen’s barrel-aged cocktails now available include the Flight Path, a concoction of hand-blended Angel’s Envy Bourbon, Nonino Italian grappa, Aperol aperitif, lemon and phosphates to gently enhance the sour characteristics of the cocktail; the Black Manhattan, a simple yet spirituous blend of Angel’s Envy Rye, Nonino Italian grappa and fresh orange; as well as several others This wood-barrel-aged cocktail has finally reached its mature age and will be available at Freedmen’s through Nov. 29, or until this exceptional blend sells out.

 

As a special acknowledgement of this handcrafted beverage’s distinction, Freedmen’s barrel-aged Boulevardier cocktail will be featured as part of the upcoming Texas MonthlyBBQ Fest 2016. Scheduled Oct. 30 from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Long Center for the Performing Arts, Texas Monthly’s annual TMBBQ Fest showcases 27 of the best barbecue spots in Texas, including Freedmen’s Bar and Smokehouse, whose scrumptious smoked meats the Texas Monthly barbecue editor referred to as “honest barbecue,” giving Freedmen’s a 4.25 out of 5 barbecue rating. Attendees of the TMBBQ Fest will be able to enjoy Freedmen’s unmistakably divine smoked meats alongside its classic barrel-aged Boulevardier cocktail, a perfectly luxurious pairing sure to be a star of the event.
