El Gaucho Winery  in Austin, TX is presenting a series of educational and lively classes in their upcoming El Gaucho Fall Wine Class Series. Each class will focus on a variety of wines and bubbles, just in time for the holidays ahead. The classes will be presented by El Gaucho’s sommelier, co-owner and Argentinian Eugenia Sewell. The classes will take place October 5th, 26th and November 16thfrom 7pm-9pm, with Argentinian appetizers served. 

Join Eugenia on October 5th for Malbecs Around the World as she takes you on a tour of Malbecs from France, Spain, California and Texas. Guests will learn about the history of the Malbec grape, how it became Argentina’s signature grape and why its popularity continues to grow. The class is $95 per person.

Discovering Argentinian Cabernets is the class focus on October 26th. Cabernets from Argentina are considered “ macho” because they are full bodied and pack a punch. Guests will explore the diversity of Argentine Cabernets from vineyards in Patagonia in the south, to the province of Salta in the north. The class is $95 per person.

El Gaucho Malbec

For wine lovers who can’t decide what type of bubbles to serve during the holidays…Champagne, Cava, Prosseco or Sparkling Wine? Learn the differences in how each wine is made, what grape varietals are used and why there is such a wide range in flavors, aromas, quality and prices, all while sipping on some of Eugenia’s favorites. Just in time for the holidays, El Gaucho Holiday Bubblies will be held on November 16th. Holiday classes fill up quickly, so early reservations are encouraged. The class is $115 per person.

After graduating from Escuela Argentina de Vino, Eugenia worked for a number of well-known wineries in Argentina. She continued to teach appreciation wine classes and began a Saturday morning “wine radio show” in Buenos Aires. She joined a consulting group focused on working with wineries to market their wines, as well as assisting people and companies looking to purchase wine, wineries and vineyards.

“I love sharing stories of my homeland, Argentina. Our traditions, our winemaking and why our wines have grown so popular,” says Eugenia. Eugenia was selected as the honorary Sommelier for the Office of the President of Argentina and was responsible for all wine and food pairing for official state functions, as well as building the Presidential cellar’s wine collection.
