South Austin just got a whole lot more flavorful, thanks to a longtime local and enterprising restaurateur. Delicious, a unique and lively eatery, bar and upscale market, is now open in the bustling Lamar Union complex on South Lamar Boulevard, and already gaining a faithful following of devotees. More than just a delightful restaurant featuring locally sourced, seasonal ingredients showcased in thoughtfully composed dishes with whimsical flair, more than a friendly bar boasting dozens of beers on tap and an eccentric and wide-ranging selection of wines, Delicious strikes a balance between cozy neighborhood hangout and high-quality emporium. Quite simply, Delicious is the curator of yum.

Designed to give patrons the opportunity to leisurely dine and sip, casually shop the array of hand-selected local, organic market offerings or grab a bottle of wine and imported snacks to go, Delicious is the creation of Raj Singh, whose kitschy, cheerful Live Oak Market on Manchaca Road has long been a quick-shopping staple for South Austinites. But Delicious—helmed by Executive Chef Tyler Johnson, the 2010 Go Texan Chef Showdown winner of Judges’ Choice Best Appetizer and Judges’ Choice Best Entrée, and a stalwart in the Austin restaurant scene—goes above and beyond, featuring a variety of deli-inspired seasonal plates and upscale comfort-food dishes often made with ingredients from local farms, which are highlighted on the restaurant’s giant chalkboard list.


Delicious is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and a stellar weekend brunch, with menu highlights including the Pastrami Sammy ($14), made with Texas-style smoked meat slathered in beer mustard and house-made pickles on fresh rye bread; and Ahi Poke ($14), beautifully presented raw tuna seasoned with house-made togarashi, Thai chili, soy and sesame oil, bordered by a ring of sliced avocado and served with freshly made Kennebec potato chips just to name a few.


The menu also includes a variety offresh salads, finger-food bites and house-made cookies and ice cream sandwiches, as well as seasonal dishes, including an upcoming special dedicated to Thanksgiving dinner.

A champion of all things Austin-centric, Delicious features live local music every Thursday, and in addition to its carefully chosen wine and bubbly selection, available by the glass and bottle, Delicious will soon launch its wine cocktails program, featuring variations on classic drinks, perfect for sipping with brunch or on warm Austin afternoons.  They also feature a bountiful assortment of beers—many of them local—on tap, in cans and in bottles, and nearly every Friday, the restaurant hosts beer tastings to die for.

Delicious is located at 1100 S. Lamar Blvd., in the Lamar Union complex. The offer breakfast, lunch and dinner service, as well as weekend brunch, an extensive grocery selection, including many local, organic and imported items, and a wide array of beers and wines. Opening hours are Monday – Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Free parking is available in the onsite Lamar Union parking garages.
