Eight Craft Breweries to Create their Own Beer-Based Soups to Compete for a Featured Tap Handle at Craftsman on Super Bowl Sunday, February 7th

Following another exciting NFL postseason, football fans are ramping up to enjoy the 50th Super Bowl craftsman tapsbetween the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers on Sunday, February 7th. While airing the game on 3 TVs with sound, Craftsman bar decided to up the ante this year by creating their own SOUPer Bowl for beer and football fans alike.

On Sunday, February 7th, starting at 6pm, eight renowned craft breweries will face off to create the most appetizing bowl of soup, stew, or chili using one of the breweries’ beers as a vital ingredient. Guests will vote for their favorite bowl, and the winning craft brewery will be crowned the champion and given their own tap handle in Craftsman for the next month.

“This is a great way for some of our favorite breweries to come together, create something unique, and of course earn bragging rights,” said owner Brandon Testa. “Our customers win either way because they get to try all of the soups, have some drinks with friends, and watch the Super Bowl together.”

Participating breweries include Green Flash Brewing Company, Hops and Grain, Goose Island Brewing Company, Friends and Allies Brewing, Abita Brewing Company, Deep Ellum Brewing Company, Upslope Brewing Company, and Victory Brewing Company.

“It might sound like a difficult challenge to create a tasty, beer-based soup, but some of the breweries have already divulged their concoctions, and they sound delicious,” said Testa. “Deep Ellum has created a Black Stout Chili featuring their Darkest Hour Imperial Stout, Upslope is making a Brown Ale Gumbo with a base of their malty Brown Ale, and Green Flash is also cooking up a chili that will feature their Dia De Los Serranos Double Stout.”

Craftsman will have selections of all of the competing breweries’ beers on tap during the competition, and football fans will be able to watch the Super Bowl with sound on all three of Craftsman’s large flat screen televisions. The Pueblo Viejo Taco Truck will provide taco options, and Garbo’s Lobster Truck ATX will serve lobster rolls and a variety of seafood choices to keep everyone fed before, during, and after the game.
