East Austin’s beloved Contigo adds seasonal changes and updates

(Austin, TX)—The weather has dipped below 90, which in Austin means Fall has arrived. Dining on the patio has become a request rather than a concession and with the cooler weather comes new additions to the most well known Mueller-area patio, Contigo.

New talent has found its way into the Contigo kitchen by way of new chef de cuisine, Ryan Town. Formally of Lucy’s Fried Chicken, Town is the newest member of the Contigo family.

“Ryan is a great leader and welcome addition to our kitchen. Not only is he an extremely talented cook but he’s a great guy outside of the kitchen as well,” co-owner and Executive Chef, Andrew Wiseheart said of Town’s arrival at Contigo.

Contigo has added yet another delicious incentive to stop by for Happy Hour. On Wednesdays from 5-6pm, Contigo is offering free ox tongue sliders (limited to one per person). While the ox tongue sliders are specific to hump day, Contigo never fails to keep the weekday interesting with $1 Fried Chicken Thursdays (get ‘em while they last) and Drink Local Tuesdays featuring $2 Austin Beers. Happy Hour is Monday – Thursday from 5-7pm and includes cocktail, beer and wine specials as well as reduced price bar snacks.

Also this Fall, Contigo has taken it upon itself to make sure the bike lanes are safe for cyclers while simultaneously adding twenty extra parking spaces for restaurant-goers. Contigo is financing the city-approved construction to expand the bike lanes, which will safely create more roadside parking on Anchor Lane (rendering available upon request). Construction is slated to be finished by mid-October.

“We want to be a positive part of the community, and we realized that the bike lanes in front of our restaurant were being overtaken by our patrons,” said Co-Owner Ben Edgerton. “The obvious move was to create a ‘best of both worlds’ scenario and create a parking/bike lane.”

In the next few months Contigo will also install a large tent to shield guests from the chilly nights as they approach. The tent will also be equipped with heaters. The fire pit and hot toddy cocktail menu will also return, keeping all diners cozy at the restaurant and making it difficult to head home after a beautiful winter evening.

With Contigo Austin, Ben Edgerton and Chef Andrew Wiseheart have brought the charm of South Texas to Austin. Born as an extension of The Edgerton family’s Contigo Ranch, Contigo Austin’s gracious hospitality is matched with Wiseheart’s menu of epicurean bar food, with an emphasis on using seasonal and fresh ingredients.

Contigo Austin is located at 2027 Anchor Lane, Austin, TX 78723.

Open Monday – Wednesday, 5PM – 11PM; Thursday – Saturday, 5PM – Midnight; and Sunday brunch 10:30AM – 2:30PM.
