We recently partnered with Chevy to take the 2017 Suburban Premier for a spin around Austin as well as a fun road trip for a weekend getaway to Houston. While my knowledge of cars is a little limited when it comes to technicalities and design specs, I didn’t have to become a car snob to appreciate the level of fine detail and luxury that has gone in to production of this vehicle.
As a food enthusiast it’s a challenge not to come off as a spoiled consumer, but its hard not to use my position to appreciate the finer things placed in front of me. The 2017 Chevy Suburban is not an organic, grass-fed chef’s made masterpiece, but it is a masterpiece non-the-less. Use whatever analogy you prefer, but the Suburban is the SUV any enthusiast of any profession would appreciate.
Looks and Size Matters
I’m not used to driving a large vehicle like the Suburban, but I loved navigating this beautiful beast all over town. It’s entire design is meant to be more of a family or large group vehicle, designed to comfortably seat 4-6 people. So to truly appreciate a large vehicle of its caliber I took it on short road trip to Houston to visit (and to show it off) a few friends and family. If you’re looking for attention or an approving nod from a fellow driver, the Suburban is the proverbial chick magnet of large SUVs. It’s easy to see why it’s been Chevy’s flagship vehicle since it’s inception.
She’s So Smooth
For starters, the handling and the suspension is incredibly smooth and nearly glides across the highway like a hovercraft. In fact, I almost felt like I was driving a yacht across water while hanging my arm out the window and feeling like a cruise ship Captain.
Show Off Around Town
I guess you could say Chevy really held nothing back with the new Suburban, short of making fly or loading it with self-driving technology. They essentially nailed every aspect of technological accomplishment, as long as their goal was to resemble a luxurious yacht on wheels.
In years past, I used to scoff at all of the soccer moms and families driving their gigantic Suburbans all over town. I thought, “why don’t they just get a smaller, normal vehicle?”, as I sat in my “normal-sized” SUV or compact car. But after driving the all new Suburban, I can easily see why it’s been such a popular vehicle for so many families for so many years. I don’t have a large family, but I can appreciate a comfortable, luxurious vehicle perfectly made for a road trip or to just show off around town.
