What’s not to love about Clarksville?  The upscale Austin neighborhood that defines class and good taste plays host to a few of the coziest upscale-casual restaurants in town. Café Josie offers a romantic, yet adventurous atmosphere in the classic yet adorable section of old west Austin, tucked away from the noisy traffic and crowds that parade West 6th Street.

Cafe Josie is first and foremost a classic fine dining restaurant with a casual upscale demeanor.  The interior dining space is cozy but airy, in it’s mid-century elegance leaving you with the feeling that’s almost historically eccentric , as the cafe provides a particular ambiance of Austin’s unique past.

The staff is exceptional and is as well-versed with the menu as the chef himself.  They will graciously guide you through each selection as well as the off-the-menu specials, making it no secret they’ve enjoyed nearly everything listed highlighting their favorite dishes.  It may be a little old-fashioned but who doesn’t appreciate an educated journey through the menu from your server? It adds up to an overall grand experience which goes a long way when considering your dinning options for the evening.

What to Eat

Chef Todd Havers presents a dinner menu that includes small a decorous selection of small plates such as Beet Terrine ($10), Fried Brussel Sprouts ($9) and Soft Shell Crawfish ($15).  Chef Havers‘ tasteful touch also amplifies Café Josie’s revamped large plates options, with selections such as the Sea Scallops, Goat Ribs and Smoked Brisket proving both dedication to the restaurant’s renowned history and his drive to push it forward to new and exciting heights. View Café Josie’s full menus at this location.
