Vines with a View Flight: Now available – From foothills to extreme elevation, grapes exhibit different attributes based on the vineyard’s terroir. Mountain vineyards experience a longer growing season with more sunshine, which helps thicken grape skins and intensify flavor resulting in a wine with firmer tannin structure. Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille’s corporate sommelier and beverage director Susi Zivanovic has curated a flight of three wines, encouraging Perry’s guests to taste the variances in a 2014 Arrowood Cabernet Sauvignon, 2015 Stonestreet Cabernet Sauvignon and 2015 Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon, each made with grapes from drastically different elevations. Price: Three two-ounce pours for $28
$5 Thursday Dinner Special: Thursday, Jan. 10 – Every Thursday the all-natural grocer has a rotating menu available from 5 – 8 p.m. at both store locations: South Lamar and Guadalupe. For a limited time in 2019, Austin’s Academia will be featuring a $100 Chocolate Martini a form of the rarest and most expensive chocolate in the world. The variety is, in fact, so rare that the tree it is harvested from—the Nacional Cacao tree—was thought to be totally extinct for over a century. Today, there are only 15 remaining Nacional Cacao trees, from which the cacao is harvested seasonally, in a similar fashion to grapes for a fine wine. The team at Academia distills the flavorful chocolate into a rich chocolate liqueur to supply the primary flavor element for their delectable Chocolate Martini. The drink also includes Russell Davis’s homemade Chocolate Syrup, Edible Silver that floats atop the cocktail, Grey Goose La Vanille Vodka, 1 locally sourced fresh farm egg, and is capped off with a blast of Liquid Nitrogen.
