Saturday at the festival was the first full day for most festival goers, which means hours of walking, dancing and of course drinking. By now, everyone has figured out that ACL Eats goes above and beyond the typical music festival experience. I dare you to a corn dog, turkey legs or bagged cotton candy here. Saturday we visited featured Chef Jason Dady, of Umai Mi in San Antonio, Texas, serving up a Texas-sized portion of his mouthwatering Braised Lamb Frito Pie.
We sampled the classic Texas BBQ Beef Frito Pie with with Cherry Tomato, Cheth Cherry Tomato, Cheddar, Sour Cream and Scallions. The Bacon Frito Pie with with Braised Pork Belly, Crispy Bacon, Jack Cheese and Roasted Tomatillo Salsa, JBG Organic Farms Frito Pie, and a Nutella Frito Pie filled with with Marshmallow, Nutella Ganache and Graham Cracker Nougat! All were stellar but the classic Texas BBQ Beef Frito Pie won me over! The classic Texas Style BBQ is always the quintessential frito pie that, taking me back to my childhood.
