Con’ Olio Oils & Vinegars, Austin’s first premium olive oil tasting bar, is celebrating 10 years with the opening of a new flagship boutique in the Bee Cave & Lakeway area. To mark the occasion, owner and co-founder Tabatha Conarko is hosting a grand opening party featuring several in-store specials and giveaways, all day long on April 13.

 

From 3pm-5pm small bites from Paella, Tapas and More and select wines from El Gaucho Winery will be served.  Conarko focuses on offering ultra-fresh products and educating guests about extra virgin olive oil.  Her new store will sell a selection of biodynamic wines and feature a dedicated demo kitchen—allowing patrons to take advantage of a myriad of classes and tasting events.  The new location opens April 5 at the Gateway at Falconhead in Bee Cave.

The new store, boasts curated extra virgin olive oils and new selection of biodynamic wines in a relaxed and inviting setting with a covered outdoor patio, where patrons may shop and share food and wine with family and friends.  In-store tastings and classes are a big draw and a substantial part of the business that Conarko continually develops and expands—Con’ Olio recently launched its first plant-based Mediterranean Cooking Class Series featuring natural food chef and holistic health coach Rachel Zierzow—so when she began conceptualizing the flagship boutique, it was important to be able to accommodate a learning environment without having to close the shop.

 

“Austin is such a foodie town,” said Conarko. “People really want to learn about the food they are consuming and that is exactly what Con’ Olio does best—education.”  The resulting dedicated demo kitchen—a novelty for most retailers and a welcomed addition to the Lakeway area—will host local guest chef visits and classes, Con’ Olio’s popular Olive Oil 101 courses and Con Olio’s Kid’s Culinary Camp sessionswhich kicks off this June, a great way for kids to learn the basics of cooking.
