The Austin Film Society (AFS) has announced the addition of presenters and special guests for the 2019 Texas Film Awards, including Academy Award-winning actress Kathy Bates; actress June Diane Raphael; actors Ron Livingston, Gary Cole, and David Herman, comedian Marc Maron and writer/director/actress Lynn Shelton. The Texas Film Awards will take place on Thursday, March 7, at 6 p.m. at the AFS Cinema. The event features red carpet arrivals and a cocktail party, followed by dinner and the awards ceremony in AFS Cinema’s Event Hall.

Academy Award®-winning actress and Tony Award®-nominee Kathy Bates will join AFS to honor her long-time collaborator, Texas born and raised filmmaker John Lee Hancock, who is being inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame. Bates is also known for her work on Misery, Titanic, American Horror Story, and Six Feet Under.

 

Actress, comedian, screenwriter, and producer June Diane Raphael will join AFS to celebrate her Grace and Frankie co-star Brooklyn Decker, who will receive the “Rising Star Award” at the Texas Film Awards.  She has guest starred on Curb Your EnthusiasmLady DynamiteNew GirlThe League, Flight of the Conchords, American Dad! and The Muppets and also appeared in films including The Disaster Artist, Blockers, Zodiac, Bachelorette, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Actors Ron LivingstonGary Cole, and David Herman will be joining the Texas Film Awards’ 20th Anniversary celebration of Office Space.  Livingston starred in the Office Space as Peter, a cubicle dweller at a tech firm who becomes hilariously disaffected with his job after a hypnosis session goes awry. He currently stars in the original series Loudermilk for AT&T Audience Network and DJ Nash’s acclaimed ensemble ABC series A Million Little Things.

SAG-Award® winning actor Gary Cole played Office Space’s Bill Lumbergh, the quintessential horrible boss. Cole, whose career has spanned theater, film, and television since the 1980s, has recently been celebrated for his role on HBO’s comedy series Veep, in which he plays senior strategist Kent Davidson. He’s also starred and held recurring roles in a number of other celebrated television shows, including SuitsThe West WingDesperate HousewivesWanted, and American Gothic.

David Herman co-starred in Office Space as Michael Bolton, an unfortunately named tech firm employee. Herman is an actor and comedian who worked with Mike Judge on the Fox television show, King of the Hill, before collaborating with Judge on both Office Space and Idiocracy (in which he appeared as the Secretary of State).

Comedian Marc Maron, best known for his hit podcast, WTF with Marc Maron and the hit Netflix original series, Glow, will MC the event with writer/actor/director Lynn Shelton. Shelton, who directed HumpdayLaggies and Your Sister’s Sister, will premiere her newest film, Sword of Trust, at SXSW. The film stars Marc Maron, alongside Michaela Watkins, Jillian Bell and Jon Bass.
